If you are still lost, check NIV - the KJV wording is so vague that I had no clue what was going on. Jesus wasn't hesitant to tear down the pharisees - he didn't do it in hate, but used brutal honesty in an attempt either to get through to them or for the benefit of observers. Sometimes you have to slap someone awake so that you can show them that their house is on fire and they need to leave.
